Canon EOS 400D or 350D?
We have recieved many emails asking about if they should buy Canon EOS 400D or 350D. Canon EOS 400D is the successor of Canon EOS 350D (Announced 24.08.06). The Canon 400D incorporates an APS-C size (22.2 x 14.8 mm) CMOS image sensor providing a focal length of 1.6x and offers 10.1 million effective megapixels. The Canon EOS 400D is advertised as an upgrade and a most improved version of the 350D. Released with some controversy, the 400D has been talked about and tested extensively. One benefit with the sensor on the 400D is that it features a self cleaning mechanism that helps get rid of other dust and debris that may accumulate on it. This feature is not present in the 350D. In fact, this camera is the first of Canon’s DSLR to have it.
You wonder of course about Canon EOS 400D or 350D, which to pick? Even if they look the same there are some essential differences between the 400D and the 350D. First we have an 8 megapixels sensor in the 350D and as we mentioned before the 400D has a 10.1 megapixel sensor. This is an improvement because the easiest thing for Canon to do would be to use the same sensor for both cameras. The bad thing about this is that the sensor improvement on the 400D has reduced its battery life. Usually this is not a problem; you just have to charge it more often.

So which is the best one, Canon EOS 400D or 350D? We have to agree that the 400D is an upgrade but is it really superior to the 350D? If I would be given a choice between them I would go for the 400D if I do outdoors photography (to get use of the sensor cleaning and larger LCD). Both cameras produce great photos that have a lot of clarity. Whichever you decide to purchase, know that you will be getting a high quality camera.
